SUPPORTED LIVING and Semi-independent

accommodation for vulnerable adults

Choice Living has dedicated houses for supported living services. Whatever a person wants to achieve, we are here to empower them, supporting with things like benefits and managing money, to going to college, finding a job and moving on to more independent living. Our team is available within agreed support hours throughout the day, and there are team members on call at night in case of an emergency.

Our semi-independent homes are more than just somewhere to live. They bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood so that a young person is prepared for the challenges of living independently.

Transition and life skills support for care leavers

Some young people refer to leaving care as ‘the instant expectation of adulthood’. They are suddenly expected to know how to cook their own meals, run a home and manage their finances, all in one go and without any support.

This is why living in a Choice Living’s 16+ home before leaving care can be hugely beneficial. We provide safe, comfortable homes for care leavers, homeless teenagers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, where they can learn the essential life skills they will need when they transition to independent living.

Sporting and cultural activities

The children and young people are supported to maintain any existing recreational, sporting and cultural activities of interest to them. We also encourage the residents to explore new interests to broaden their life experiences within the community, and to expand their personal and social skills.

They are encouraged to participate in meaningful activities that will enhance their opportunity to develop life skills, their own interests and hobbies.

All existing recreational, sporting and cultural activities are reviewed and will be ongoing throughout the planning and review processes thereafter.

The range of activities include:

  • Chosen day trips, including farms and theme parks
  • Disco’s
  • Regular meals out
  • Swimming
  • Shopping
  • Trampolining
  • Walks in the park

Accommodation for young people on their path to independence

The type of accommodation we offer varies depending on the young person. However, no matter which one of our supported housing services they live in, staff will always support young people to work towards their goals and build their confidence for the future.

For the young people, Choice Living will work with the person and professionals to support in maintaining and developing all aspects of life. This could include employment, education, leisure pursuits managing your tenancy agreement, developing friendships, developing social skills, variety of daily living skills, benefits, finances, emotional support, and much more. All will be to an individual’s needs. This will be completed by way of support plans, risk assessments to enable the best support plan and package for individual needs. This will hopefully develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible in your own home or your family home.
